Not only is ELLE Canada the online home of the synonymously titled print mag (and the Canadian gals fashion bible), it is now the home of interactive videos, thanks to a partnership with Overlay.TV. For many print publications who have forayed into the dot-com fashion arena, video is becoming an increasingly huge part of the make-up of these sites, everything from runway shows, to how-tos, to behind the scenes footage, and ELLE Canada is no exception. What's lacking from most online video, particularly fashion and style based video, is the interactivity, the ability to find out what products they are using, info about the clothes and accessories, and the ability to shop. Now ELLE Canada, being a trailblazer of sorts in the fashion universe, is one of the first dedicated online fashion sites to offer this level of interactivity. You can now shop, find out info, and much more, all while watching a video. It's just a matter of time before the rest of the online fashion community follows suit. Watch the video below and experience the interactivity for yourself.

Commercialising Online Videos & Other Digital Media By Tim Tang
According to ComScore, 3 billion videos were streamed on YouTube in January 2008. YouTube has not released the cost of streaming these videos, but here are the facts in Google’s 2007 Annual Report. [MORE]
Styleathome.com is the online home of the print publication of the same name, and as the name implies, is a "one-stop online resource for everything related to decorating and design." They have all kinds of interesting tidbits everything from, design lessons to do-it-yourself projects, but I have to say my favorite is their High/Low design comparisons. What's this you ask? Well, Style at Home will take a design idea like decorating your cottage, or child's room for instance, and show you two practically identical versions of the same living space one with a, you guessed it, high budget and the other with a low budget. The addition of video to their High/Low section was the perfect opportunity for Style at Home and Overly.TV to develop a partnership. The video, hosted by contributing stylist Rodney Smith, explains where to find high end and low end fireplaces and how to build a room around them. Instead of having to research the items yourself, or pore through a wall of text, simply click on any of the items discussed, and find out where to buy them and in some cases purchase it right then and there. All of the targets are invisible, so as not to disrupt your viewing pleasure. This is what Overlay.TV can do for you:

EMERGING VIDEO MONETIZATION TECHNIQUES by Adrian Keys
While many advertisers may think Google and YouTube are the only game in video monetization the past year has seen many new options crop up. While most advertisers seem stuck in the land of pre- and post-roll ads, some cutting edge publishers have gained revenue using new technologies preferred by consumers for their less intrusive delivery. Highlights from Red Herring Canada 08
September 19th, 2008 by Francis

I already wrote a post at Dangletech.com, where I try to contribute weekly, about the most fascinating highlight the Red Herring Canada 08 conference held earlier this week at Mont Tremblant. For my money, the best entertainment was the riveting behaviour of Red Herring publisher and CEO Alex Vieux who dominated the event with his bewildering mix of brilliant observation, insightful analysis and boorish, insulting and condescending treatment of those who paid big bucks to attend. OverlayTV: television you can mashup
find the whole concept of OverlayTV game-changing, not just for the television industry that packages and pipes content, but to anyone looking far out enough to see where interactive media is headed. [MORE]
It's an incredibly exciting time to be part of Overlay.TV. After coming out of beta last week, we were honoured last night by Red Herring as the most innovative and promising new company in Canada.
You build a company in a new space hoping that people will see the same future that you see. We're obviously very excited about the award, but at the same time, humbled by the knowledge that some of the smartest people in the industry can look at your product under great scrutiny and agree on its potential as well. Trophies and bragging rights are fine, but for me, that's the real honour of this award.
As we move forward and continue to expand Overlay.TV into the premiere platform for online video advertising, there will be more scrutiny - not just from award shows, but from investors, clients, our users and our community. My goal is to make sure that we always stand up to that scrutiny and exceed the expectations of anyone who uses Overlay.TV.
If you want to read more about the award, you can read the press release here.
